Lanie's first birthday!

Wednesday is Lanie's first birthday.  I had her pictures taken and they turned out great.  She is such a beautiful baby and so personable.  When I went back to pick them up, three K-mart workers came up and wanted to see the pictures.  They remembered her from our previous visit.  I got them all mailed out and just need to get a couple of frames for the ones that are being put up here.

We are doing a birthday party here next Sunday.  It is just us, Whites and then Thomas' family.  I am trying to get the kitchen painted before then and it is a lot of work.  I am exhausted and I am still not done.  John has to get the high parts but I have everything else done with the exception of behind the fridge. It is looking good.  I painted it white and it looks so much brighter and happier.  I still have to paint the foyer and hall but that will have to wait until after the Family Reunion.  Actually, I would like to do the foyer before then but I am not going to stress if I don't.

Baby changing daily

Lanie is changing so fast and growing so much.  She can take a few steps on her own.  She said her first word...doggie and she jabbers all the time.  She is so sweet and so stubborn at the same time.  She will take over an hour to go to sleep even when she is so tired she can't stand up.  She fights sleep-I guess all babies do.

Saturday night we went to Thomas' brothers wedding.  It was very nice and Thomas and I had a good time with no arguing or fighting!  Lanie was the most photographed person of the day.  Usually the Bride is but not at this wedding!  Almost everyone had their picture taken with her.  Thomas, Lanie and I had our photo taken together...our first family photo.  Everyone kept calling us Mom and Dad and I have to admit that it felt good.  I love being considered Lanie's mommy.

Nonnie and John went to Sedalia for Friday and Saturday and Thomas and I got along so well that I am actually glad we are engaged.  I really want Thomas to actually ask me to marry him, ring in hand.  The last time he did not actually ask and I really want that.  And I want a ring on my finger when he does it.  If he can and will do that I feel that he will be invested in this relationship.  We also had a long talk on Friday and it made me feel as if we can make this work.  I at least have hope now where I really did not before.
